| Abstract | The Generalized Scattering Matrix (GSM) is an usual way to characterize a waveguide junction. Regardless of the geometry and the technique used to calculate it, the GSM has some properties that are slightly different from the circuital ones due to the presence of evanescent modes. In this paper theseproperties are reviewed and its relation with the GSM of a transversal discontinuity obtained by Mode-Matching (MM) is investigated. In this particular case, the properties can never be used to check that the analysis has been carried out rightly. |
