ResumenThe TE and TM modes of a homogeneous cylindrical waveguide are calculated by an efficient Boundary Contour Mode-Matching Method (BCMM). The electromagnetic fields are described with a series of circular cylindrical waves whose cutoff wavenumber and amplitudes are obtained by imposing the boundary conditions. The field-matching procedure is facilitated by a new line integral extendedover the closed contour and the use of the transformation between plane and circular waves. The conversion betweenthe different field representations is carried out by means of a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), resulting in a very efficient method.
