ResumenIn this work we review the use of spherical modes in computational electromagnetics mainly applied to antenna problems. First, the theory of spherical modes will be reviewed. Second, the use jointly with the Finite Element Method will be exposed. Third, the application to the analysis of finite arrays will be shown. Finally, it will be presented how the spherical modes allow us to obtain an equivalent model of the antenna, in terms of infinitesimal dipoles, which increases the capabilities of the method for the analysis of finite arrays.
